If you never plan to join one, it appears you must be anti union.

I think unions should be compulsory and those who refuse to belong shouldn't be permitted to accept the benefits....such as the 8 hour day and weekends we enjoy...and pay rises.

i was a member once. when i was a apprentice.

the bloke who i was working for could no longer afford to employ me.

so I rang the union and told them the story, i didn't want them to make him keep me or anything.

all i wanted was some help to transfer my apprenticeship else where.

now seeing how the union organiser/representative is out and about all day they would know who was looking for staff.

i was told they could do nothing for me and i was on my own.............that is the exact words.

well i found another employer and had my apprenticeship transfered over. no help from the union.

a couple of months later the union rep come onto site and was talking to me and asked if i was a member.

when i said no and refused to rejoin, i was called a leach among other things.

It is a real problem that workers won't strike like they used to.

The accord solved a lot of the strikes. I'm sure we'll see plenty of strikes happening with this government.

Unions are vital because they address the balance of power in the workplace.

Grizz, that's a disappointing story about your union, however it also contradicts your earlier statement about having nothing against unions. I see the issue in a bigger picture...it's not about individual workers, but the group...for the betterment of workers overall. Still, it's not good that they didn't help you when you needed it.

agree with mrgrizz

Bill Shorten won’t expel Mr McDonald from the Labor Party, despite Kevin Rudd doing so when he was PM.

Shorten is just another union THUG

Cant wait for the Royal Commission into Union corruption as back stabbing bill has his sticky fingers on so much corruption and its going to come out
