update on house hunting

Well we finally got a house , signed the lease and got the keys this morning.

Actually got it $20 cheaper then what was advertised when we applied for it .

Owners wanted to wait to see what other applications they got and ended up dropping the price by $20 , 2 more applied either of them could have had the house but both pulled out .

Real estate rang me to see if we were still interested and I said yeah sure but notice the price has dropped so we will go with that ..

We didnt get accepted first off because we are smokers but outside ones only and the owner is really **bleep** about smoking apparently..

Good news haha, I am a smoker as well and it took me a very long time to find a landlord happy with this.

We are a non smoking house, but know that smokers can be a negative when applying for a leased house.

Is it a bit strange that the owner dropped the price $20 and 2 other people pulled out.. when there is a shortage of houses in your area?

I'd much rather outdoor smokers  (I assume the legit kind)  than non-paying, destroying, big dog owning, candle lighting,  pot smoking ( I don't like cleaning weed off bathroom walls at all) tenants!

You can get a 4 bedroom house , 2 bathrooms , double garage , family room and so on  some with pools some without ranging from $410 to $480 . The house we got was advertised for $520 and is only a 3 bedroom house and laundry only permits a front loader washing machine due to how its set up , so most consider $520 far to much for a 3 bedroom house given what you can get cheaper if your lucky .

Although $500 sounds a lot it is a very lovely home and a very modern one also . This apparently is the owners first investment property they have only just bought it and they needed to have rent coming in so although they are very against smoking we got it .
