umm.Hate to say bu but you are quite off the mark. Without turning this into a religious thread and upsetting people, live by the sword, die by the sword is jesus actually talking against violence saying if you are violent that is ultimaely how you will die. It was not said as a rule but to his disciple about the disciples actions. He was telling his dicsiple to put his sword away. Perhaps its time to research properly instead of posting youtube clips and calling them gospel (excuse the pun)
Yes he was talking against violence, but he was not saying that peacefull people should let the violent people just walk over and kill them and their familys. The sword, the most advanced weapon of the time was the assault weapons of today that anti gun people are trying to ban. Jesus said to sell your garment if you have to (anything you can sell) and arm yourself, no mater how you have to do it, because it's yours, not God's responcability to protect yourself against the tyrants who, fear the people and hate Christ. They don't fear Christ, they know Christ isn't gonna interfear in their killing and destruction in this life. They hate him because he is truth and they want no part of the truth about them getting out to the people that they do in fact fear.
Why are there those who relate owning guns or even carrying them open or concealed to being violent? Why is that? The most responsable gun owners are peacefull by nature, but know that there are those who are not. I can no longer leagally own or carry guns, but my interest in doing so stems from my desire of personal freedom. Most others desire stems from protection and readyness, but the freedom aspect is down in there somewhere.
Take guns away from good people and only bad people will have them, bad people who don't really care if or not they break the law. Any good people who therefore decide to break the law, will be punnished if they try to protect themselves from the tyrants. In time, the onlt bad people left who are armed will be military and police types who the laws don't apply to anyhow.
