Hands up how many people here have ever had an atheist knock on their door or stop them in the street trying to convert them.

Not me, I would only know someone was atheist if I asked and I don't bother asking as a rule.

What on earth has being white got to do with anything? Whatever Darwin may or may not have believed and however badly his original ideas may have been twisted, ALL races of modern man are descended from the same 'ancestor' and all are EQUALLY evolved. The colour of our skin is simply due to the evolution of our pigmentation - in climates with a great deal of sunshine those with a darker skin were more likely to to survive and reproduce, while a paler skin meant a better chance of survival in a colder climate.

so, why all the fuss about 'religion should not be taught in schools' - when 'the Theory of Evolution' certainly is? In all it's guises.

Because the theory of Evolution (The formal scientific definition of theory refers to a comprehensive explanation of some aspect of nature that is supported by a vast body of evidence.) Is not a religion.

Please don't make the theist look like morons. The vast majority of them accepts evolution as a fact and don't have a problem with it. Evolution has nothing to do with atheism.

Gav. please read a biology book for that read another book other than the bible.

feel free to teach religion in religious studies classes. I welcome it and think it's important for kids to know about every religion.

You teach science in science classes.

what a cop out, typical atheistic answer - smoke and mirrors, no answer. very few atheists have a clue on the "origins of the species".

That's true - to teach religious classes would mean to teach abridged versions of a lot of religions

The "origins of the species" is antiquated and archaic now. It kindled the thought (although Darwin wasn't the first to think it he just popularized the theory in its day) but science has moved on in leaps and bounds since that first publication. Of course he would not write the Descent Of Man many years later until he thought it safe to do so.
