why do atheists feel the need to talk about God all the time?

bob have you researched what Darwin and those who thought the same before him believed?

as a Christian I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.

but those who believe in evolution are ashamed of their belief system. or more to the point would be - have not a clue of what their belief system is and who it was who formed it.

so, why all the fuss about 'religion should not be taught in schools' - when 'the Theory of Evolution' certainly is? In all it's guises.

usually comes down to arrogance.  atheists campaign against religious education in public schools because they think religious beliefs can prevent ethical and moral behaviour....that religion is the root of all evil....and all that....

".....The National Federation of Atheist, Humanist and Secular Student Societies (AHS) plans to launch a recruitment drive this summer.

Backed by professors Richard Dawkins and AC Grayling, the initiative aims to establish a network of atheist societies in schools to counter the role of Christianity.

It will coincide with the first atheist summer camp for children that will teach that religious belief and doctrines can prevent ethical and moral behaviour.

The federation aims to encourage students to lobby their schools and local authorities over what is taught in RE lessons and to call for daily acts of collective worship to be scrapped. It wants the societies to hold talks and educational events to persuade students not to believe in God......"

The Telegraph By Jonathan Wynne-Jones, 25 Apr 2009

"Richard Dawkins, the evolutionary biologist and author of The God Delusion, has helped launch an atheist summer camp for children. Alongside the more traditional activities of tug-of-war, swimming and canoeing, children at the five-day camp in Somerset will learn about rational scepticism, moral philosophy, ethics and evolution.

Camp-goers aged eight to 17 will also be taught how to disprove phenomena such as crop circles and telepathy. In the Invisible Unicorn Challenge, any child who can prove that unicorns do not exist will win a £10 note - which features an image of Charles Darwin, the father of evolutionary theory - signed by Dawkins, Britain's most prominent atheist....."

What? Not sure how you got to that. Darwin published all that he could have known in his day to the best of his abilities. New discoveries expanding and elaborated from there and added even more exciting discoveries (and still ongoing).

meep not sure who your post is for but Dawkins spends a lot of his time campaigning against something he believes doesn't exists. kind of a sad life if you think about it.

Darwin was a pioneer in a completely new science and a product of the social and religious beliefs of his age - beliefs which ascribed to everyone an 'order of peck' according to class and race. It was not his work on evolution that led him to believe the black races were inferior to the white - it was social and religious indoctrination.

His work was basic, because he did not have the tools to expand it - other sciences such as genetics and microbiology were also in their infancy and even archaeology was then simply a pastime for wealthy amateurs. Advances in all branches of science have refined, modified and expanded on his original writings - they have not discredited his basic theory though.
