For the last year and a half my internet and phone have had issues.

The phone line is noisy and the internet often crashes. When the phone rings, the internet stops working and when we get a lot of rain, its even worse.

I ring my internet provider, do a heap of checks and in the end its always logged as a telstra cable issue.

Telstra come, do something with the cables in the ground and then the problem is fixed for a month or two.

But, then it all starts all over again.

Each time im told by the telstra techy that the cables are old but they wont replace them due to the NBN roll out in the future and that i should just keep calling everytime it gets bad.

Anyway, we had a testra guy here again on the weekend and he claims that the cables are not the problem and that i need a central filter installed.

He says that will solve all the problems, but if it doesnt, at least it can be eliminated as a possible problem.

Yes, we do have an alarm in the house that is connected to the phone lines

Hi , if not done so, you need to connect an ADSL filter to each phone landline socket - this includes connected phone outlets not also connected to a computer

The filter is about the size of a match box with socket to connect inline to the landline phone cable at the the wall socket  and 2 out sockets , one to the phone or fax and the other line out to the computer

These are listed via search  ADSL filter

Called  ADSL inline splitter / filter

seems you have been getting the idiots treatment , maybe due to your listings looking business  you have been targeted by competitive vested interests or you seem to be running an ATO recognisable business on a private phone account or some such

update-

alarm has been disconnected and internet and phone problem still there.

Today a different telstra guy came and said that my street is logged as having very old faulty cables. We had rain all last night and he said the cables were full of water.

He said it all needs replacing but telstra may not do it due to t he possible future NBN rollout.

He said the guy who told me it was my alarm causing the problems is full of ----

His advice was just to call everytime i have problems
