HDD Enclosure or Docking Station

Need information on which is best to support and old hard drive in a machine which I no longer use but have numerous files on the HDD I'd like to keep.

Would a HDD Enclosure be better or a HDD Dock.

It's only a 80gig HDD but I have a lot of stuff on it I want to keep from an old XP Comp.

I want to ditch the rest of the Comp but want to keep the HDD from it so am looking for the best option other than me transferring off onto my portable HDD which I use for other files.

I bought a 1 TB external hard drive for about 100 dollars. More space than I could ever use, so only need 1 extra drive for everything. JMO.

Hi , if converting an internal hdd to external removable is better to use an enclousure because internal drives are generally not safe to casually handle - prone to static damage if the exposed circults underneath are touched

Also I suggest delete the old Windows folder - not good to have 2 sets of system files accessable by running processes

You could just plug the old hard drive into your new PC as a slave and have the new HD as the master.. You just need to delete the old windows files
