HDMI cable, lots at buy it now $1, but when you select 1m the prices changes to $4.95. One 3m cable changed from $1 to $14.95 on selecting colour. All sellers include a "Cable joiner" for $1 though. Is this a scam?

Hi , maybe the $1 items are standard oem packaged items and so produced in the millions whereas the longer spec cables are retail packed items , limited in production - so more expensive to manufacture and supply per item and having higher intrinsic price willing to be paid by retail consumers or supplied with lower volume high end products

Have been seeing this dirty trick frequently.
The traders are doing this to sneak themselves up the search listings
based on an apparent low price,
and then switching the price to whatever they want.
Often the hidden price is much higher than other traders for the same item..
I regard this practice as deceitful.
At best, it wastes the time of buyers, because I refuse to trade with cheaters, and have to start again.
At worst, it is fraudulent, trapping the unobservant into paying inflated prices.
I think this practice should be banned.

legally is the lowest advertised price for a non-auctioned item as viewed by the Buyer when purchased (in this case clicked buy-it-now) - so ebay should disable the means for a seller to change the price in real-time when the I presume then Buyer clicks the item "but-it-now" (instant transaction) button , or else attract ACCC attention
