I have a refurbished desktop PC that I would like to put a new USB card in as I think the USB ports are on the way out..
The problem is, all the parts in it are like miniature versions of the parts,, I don't know what to look for when I search for these things so I just did a search for "Low Profile" but now that I have bought a card I think it will still be too big for the case..
Can anyone offer some advice about what to look for?

hi, i suggest first note your computer system builder and model number , then supported devices maybe determined

I got it sorted in the end.. I just did a search for low profile usb card and found one for $11.. It had a larger bracket on it, but came with a smaller one to screw on for desktop PCs...
Then came the worry of whether I had a PCI E slot... Turns out I do...
Now to buy some more RAM

Hi , glad to read that you sorted out your USB upgrade , as for ram memory , I suggest install cpu-z , which will show specs all currently installed ram memory and also number of module slots including number occupied etc
Is a good start as optimal memory upgrades can be tricky.
Once you increase capacity you might also be able to also further improve graphics performance and/or quality via graphics config applet.
For those using older retro-aged computers with 256MB / 512MB total installed ram memory running XP sp3 with typical security suite installed , increasing ram memory capacity to 2GB will be very noticable
