Is it a Virus

Ppl in my address book have been receiving dodgy emails from 'me' with links, that I never sent.  They're either bouncing back to me or their antivurses have picked them up.  I'm running scans and checks but so found nothing.  What else should I do?

Thanks.

Supposing you don't have a server, no worries, no virus, but unfortunately your are victim of a "Joe Job" or email spoofing.
The worst is that your email can be blacklisted by spam filters from your contacts.
The one thing I would do is notify your ISP that you're having this problem, if you use an ISP email address.

To be sure nobody is using your account change your password.

Verify if your antivirus is up to date and if it is effective to detect spyware.

The last desperate action would be to change your address email.

Thanks reddragon.  It's a Yahoo mailbox I use, so I guess I should tell them?  I've done a full virus scan and spyware, and malware and nothing has shown up, so do these things usually go away?

Anyway I'll go and contact Yahoo now.  So far none of my contacts have been infected thank goodness and I've written to all of them telling them to ignore such an email.

Change your yahoo password. Your account has been hacked and is being used to spam(or worse) the people in your address book.

Suggestion - get a google email account, or use one from your internet service provider, as they tend to provide better spam protection.

If you do need to publish your email address, either do it as a picture, or write it out "someone at soandso dot com" as it amkes it harder for scammers to pick it up in a search.
