Choose and Change (New Game)

Let's try this new game... 🙂

You have a word and have to write a sentence with an antonym of this word (it must not be a perfect antonym/opposite). The sentence must contain at least three other words (not including articles, pronouns etc.)

The next poster then chooses a word from the sentence of the previous poster (not the antonym, any other word) and builds a new sentence with the antonym of the word he or she has chosen.

For example:

START - She finished her delicious meal in no time.

The antonym of "start" is "finish/finished", so the next poster has to choose between "delicious", "meal" and "time" (the antonym can't be used) and has to write a sentence with the antonym of the chosen word and with at least three other nouns.

FORECAST - Professor Carmel Dolman could not contain her excitement as she regarded the golden circlet with its rough unpolished emerald, excavated from a recent dig in Norway; she said “This is such an important piece of history, not only because it’s exquisite workmanship and the quality of the jewel, but also because metallurgical analysis tells us this was made from gold mined from North Wales, and this circlet turning up in Norway means there is a high probability it was taken as plunder by the Vikings.”

EXQUISITE - It was so disappointing that the entire job had to be re-done due to the shoddy work done by the original creators.

ENTIRE - Rodney admitted that he hadn’t written his assignment on his own, and that ChatGT was responsible for a portion of it - something that was painfully obvious as in his own writing, he had never used an apostrophe correctly.

WRITTEN - The assignment had been a difficult one, but it was finally finished, and the neatly typed copy had been handed in to the teacher in time to be marked.

MARKED - The clever slave girl had erased the cross which a spy had drawn onto the group’s headquarters, for were their plans to be uncovered, it would be the end of their chance to redeem their freedom.

CROSS - She was exploring the woods near her new home in hopes of discovering a fairy circle in an isolated clearing.

ISOLATED - Everyone in the circus knew Coco Museroi, whose personality was as vibrant as her outrageously flaming red dyed hair, and exclamations of sympathy were loud as the communal efforts to comfort Coco had all of the performers and stagehands alike offering help in the wake of the attack on her by Dinnai Caesar, the dwarf strongman who’d suddenly gone crazy.

CRAZY - Even superfans of the latest chart-topping group agreed that the prices for tickets to their upcoming tour were expensive, over-priced, and completely insane.

UPCOMING - “You can’t blame me for wanting everything done for me,” remarked Isabelle in self-satisfied tones, smoothing back her hair with a nonchalant hand, “as I’m sure I was Cleopatra in a previous life.”

HAIR - He was excited to have discovered a hidden room behind the old cellar wall, but his excitement quickly changed to terror when he saw the horrible grinning skull staring at him from the top of a shiny golden plinth.
