Choose and Change (New Game)

Let's try this new game... 🙂

You have a word and have to write a sentence with an antonym of this word (it must not be a perfect antonym/opposite). The sentence must contain at least three other words (not including articles, pronouns etc.)

The next poster then chooses a word from the sentence of the previous poster (not the antonym, any other word) and builds a new sentence with the antonym of the word he or she has chosen.

For example:

START - She finished her delicious meal in no time.

The antonym of "start" is "finish/finished", so the next poster has to choose between "delicious", "meal" and "time" (the antonym can't be used) and has to write a sentence with the antonym of the chosen word and with at least three other nouns.

LIFE - Waking up early one morning, she glanced at the latest news and was grieved to hear of the death of a well-liked local personality

PERSONALITY - While he projected a genial manner, his character was decidedly intolerant and harsh, such that no one in the family could go to him in times of disappointment or trouble.

DISAPPOINTMENT - She wanted no recognition for her many helpful and charitable deeds, as the satisfaction she felt would always far outweigh any certificates, medals or public commendations she might receive.

RECOGNITION - His only chance of getting away with the heist was complete anonymity, so that none of his team would recognise him, and the police would hopefully be unsuccessful with face recognition technology; the plastic surgery had been very successful in changing not only his features but also the various facial measurements that might have exposed him.

POLICE - As a young child he had always dreamed of being famous, what he hadn't expected was becoming an extremely notorious criminal rather than a movie star or pop idol.

FAMOUS - As he grew older, he started to feel that his life was quite irrelevant and was sucked into a black hole of addictions and depression.

HOLE - To stop the old decrepit boat from sinking, she applied a patch over the gap between the rotting timber slats.

DECREPIT - Before stepping on the bridge connecting the two sides of the small valley, he made sure it was sturdy.

BRIDGE - He played the first movement with gusto, and as he approached the coda after a modulatory bridge, his finger work became quite dazzling.

FINGER - His big toe was quite painful, due to him kicking it on the side of the bed during last night's midnight visit to the bathroom.
