EMBROIDER - Tam Ganejič told the police that he had gone to his neighbour’s door to ask for milk, and that his neighbour had called him a milk-loving ponce with a whacked brain before threatening him with a cake server — a version of events which the detective in charge did not believe, as the neighbour was a known drug dealer, drug paraphernalia was found in his lounge, Tam’s prints were found on the tins of Italian tomatoes with which the neighbour had been assaulted, and Tam’s wallet was stuffed with the exact amount of money which the neighbour accused him of having stolen — but Tam’s account was not unexpected as he was notorious for choosing to embroider almost anything he said.

GAOL - One of my least favourite moments in Monopoly is when I pick up a card that tells me to go to gaol, straight to gaol, without passing Go and without collecting $200 or £200 or whatever the currency may be.

DARK - Joanna sat in her uncomfortable chair, entering more data to analyse even though she was deathly tired; it was dark outside, with city street lights fuzzily illuminating patches along the footpath and with green and red blobs of light showing at the crossing – but still she did not want to move, for she was afraid he would still be there, waiting for her at home.
