SENSIBLE - It seemed only sensible to let Rufus do his business outside, so his owner grabbed a warm jacket, clipped the long leash to his collar, and let Rufus outside, where he uttered several short barks, examined the ground, sniffed it, and finally decided upon an appropriate area to do what a dog has to do.

EATING - After eating his tea and doing his business Rufus was ready for his usual walk down to the local shopping centre. He was a good boy so the butcher gave him a large bone!

GALLIVANT - Along the nearby leafy track, there was plenty for Rufus to enjoy - interesting plants with a riot of smells, trees with knotholes and rough bark, the aroma of rain-washed earth, and of course the lake around which the track curled and in which the local waterfowl would sit with serene grace; Rufus’ owner knew from his excited barks just how dearly Rufus would like to gallivant freely but she kept a firm hand on his extendible leash!

TELEVISION - Sitting inside away from the wind & rain Rufus sat next to me on the couch eating a tender loin chop with no "dead horse " watching Rin Tin Tin on the television. What a spoilt doggie he is!

NAP - After a hard day of chasing the munched-up tennis ball around the back yard, barking at the clouds overhead, digging up bones he’d once buried, and enjoying some cuddles with his owner, it was time for a nap - and Rufus trotted over to his special dog blanket to arrange himself in the best position to stretch out, yawn, and close his laughing eyes for a little while.

PEACEFUL - His owner sighed happily, watching Rufus sleep, looking so peaceful - a far cry from the anguish and excitement of the previous day.

LUCRATIVE - She booted up her computer, now that she had a few moments to spare to work on the lucrative contract she had with a French dairy company; as the monitor lit up, she heard a satisfied little snuffling sound from Rufus and she sighed a little, reminding herself to order another 1.2 kg bag of dry food for him.

EATING - He had been eating more lately, which was due to his sudden growth from a cuddly little puppy to a lanky teenager with a ferocious appetite.

GROWL - The next day was cool, with patches of blue sky and no hint of rain, which meant Rufus could spend the morning outside with great pleasure - until the postman’s arrival caused him to give a little growl of warning in case the postman wanted to dognap him.

LOUDLY - Looking very fierce and snarly Rufus started to bark so loudly that the postman got such a shock that he jumped on his bike and sped off ever so quickly.
