ADORABLE - It was just so adorable how both Rufus and Bailey did their best to comfort Grace, and their antics brought a smile to her face, even though the tears were still trickling.

EFFERVESCENT - That night, Grace was woken from her sleep by almost demonic-sounding howls from Bailey, and upon getting out of bed and grabbing a dressing gown in the muzzy chill of pre-dawn, she stumbled towards the unearthly morning to find that The dogs had knocked over a bottle of lemonade, somehow getting the lid off so that the effervescent contents had spilled everywhere, and Bailey had clearly been lapping it up to the dismay of his tummy; he was looking very miserable while a more discriminating Rufus had declined the knocked-over drink.

TOMATO - After clearing up the mess Grace sat down at the table to gather her thoughts. She picked up her notepad and started to think what was for tea tonight. The dogs had some dog loaf and she decided to have toasted cheese & tomato sandwiches.

TOXIC - After comforting Bailey and cleaning up the mess of spilt lemonade, Grace was comforted by the fact that the liquid hadn't been anything more toxic, and promised herself that she would make sure all her cleaning and beauty products were locked away, as Bailey was too inquisitive for his own good.

OWLISH - Grace was now in that state where one is both hyper-aware and sub-aware in an extremity of tiredness, and she knew her eyes would be owlish with the weird sensation of wanting to sleep while also wanting to be awake; she heated up a mug of milk with cinnamon, patted the dogs with her feet while she sipped her drink, and put a lavender heat pack in the microwave, as it might just help her get back to sleep.

HOLIDAY - Whilst laying in bed with her warmed heat pack Grace still couldn`t nod off. In her mind she was thinking about a holiday that Rufus & Bailey could take with her... but where to go?

YAPPING - Without realising, she briefly dozed off, only to be woken by Bailey's yapping, punctuated by Rufus's deeper bark, and jumped out of bed in a panic, running towards all the noise to discover that they had cornered a small terrified mouse hiding in the corner of the kitchen.

GUEST - The unexpected guest awoke a mixture of fear and pity, as Grace had a rodent phobia but also had a tender heart; she squeaked “Eek! You poor thing! But what can I do?”

TRAY - As Grace was looking at the little mouse and the dogs were locked up, she decided to catch it and put it in the tray and set it free outside.

YARD - With her heart hammering in trepidation, Grace reached out her hands just a little, but she literally could not make them move any further; fortunately the mouse spotted an escape route to the outside and dashed towards it - and freedom via the yard - while the two dogs were obeying Grace’s shaky command to “Sit!”
