Good morning to all genuine music thread lovers/visitors...

Saff, thanks for that Mikey Melody link, haven't heard of him before, and always pleased to come across new music makers, especially reggae. My ears like to hear new things. Not sure what decade I feel like playing in today...where's Jo'z, us ladies are keeping the seat warm for him but this music buggy moves along at a cracking pace, miss a few days and you have 100 new song links to catch up on.

Saw this beautiful and sad Indian movie on SBS the other night called Water by Deepa Mehta with soundtrack music by A.R Rahman & Mychael Danna...might work up a soundtrack themed set for later.

Hi happyplanet.Oh yes indeedy:-).Juan de marcos' Afro Cuban All-Stars were excellent as was 71 year old Calypso Rose of Trinidad/Tobago.Horace Andy was good-he even did a track or two from his Massive Attack days.Bob Brozman was,as usual,very entertaining.A band that really impreseed me was a trio -two ladies and a guy-from the Ukraine called DakhgaBrakha(video below)

Not usually one for DJ sets I dropped in to see DJ Don Letts (U.K.) on the way out and it was most enjoyable.Some very nice reggae tunes.A twenty something even asked me to dance with her.I promptly gave her the phone number of an eye surgeon to remove her cataracts:^O

Excellent Spot, you lucky thing to see Calypso Rose, thought she had well and truly retired. Don Letts I remember from the 80's, he directed many videos by the Clash, Pretenders, Elvis Costello and was with Big Audio Dynamite. Did you see Amadou & Mariam or Asa?

I would like the paid job of travelling around the world and seeking out interesting and undiscovered musicians for WOMAD festivals....
