The Ups and Downs of Synonyms (New Game)

I hope this new game will be fun...

In this new game, you have to select a word from the sentence of the previous poster and write a new sentence with a synonym of that word that is either longer or shorter than the original word.

The next poster then chooses a new word from your sentence, selects a synonym of that word that is either longer or shorter and writes a new sentence, and so on.

For example:

- She liked to spend a lot of time at the library, reading old books and pondering about life.

The next poster chooses a word, for example old, and a synonym of a different length, for example elderly, and then writes a new sentence.

- He visited his elderly brother in his tiny apartment and listened to some nice, relaxing music with him.

And so on...

- When she entered the shop that seemed to have magically appeared overnight, she had a strange feeling of déjà vu, even if she was sure she had never seen it before, let alone entered it.

CAMELS - The movie ended with a panoramic shot of a line of dromedaries disappearing beyond of a landscape of seemingly endless undulating sand dunes.

UNDULATING - The screen siren let her eyes simmer with a come-hither look as she rested one fingertip against her scarlet mouth, then turned around and made her way with hips swaying off the set.

SIMMER - She let the rice boil gently for 15 minutes, then she strained it and added some sauce.

SAUCE - The salad on her plate was arranged beautifully, and could almost have been a work of art, but unfortunately it was completely spoiled by the excessive amount of dressing that had been added by the heavy-handed server, who was very inexperienced, having only started working at the café that morning.

SPOILED - The corpse had been lying undisturbed in this lonely area of the forest for at least three weeks, and the putrefied flesh was a sharp reminder that beauty and youth are no defence against death.

CORPSE - As she gazed at the worm-eaten cadaver that had been delivered to her examination room, she again reminded herself of the reasons that she had chosen forensic pathology as her lifetime career.

FORENSIC -  Once she had completed her clinical examination, she wrote up the pathology report, detailing the deceased’s stomach contents, wounds inflicted before death, state of the deceased’s liver, and - importantly - the proximate cause of death which was surprisingly not the bullet which had entered the heart.

COMPLETED - It was quite frustrating when her mother arrived to collect her from her friend's house earlier than expected, as they had often not finished their homework assignments - mainly because they chattered and gossiped for at least the first hour they spent together.

MOTHER - Quilla had been born into an unusual family, with overbearing parents who had given her a weird name, insisted she wear lamé overalls, and made her address them as Master of the X-Chromosome and Womb-Endowed Birth-Mistress respectively.

UNUSUAL - She had always found odd people more interesting than boring sheep.
