Ebay has changed me twice for the $49 ebay plus fee.

The ebay plus annual amount ($49) came out in April 2024 and then again in May 2024.   I rang ebay 16th May and they checked and agreed I had been charged twice and advised a refund would be processed and it would take about 5 business days.  On the 6th of June I rang as I had not received a refund. 

My call was escalated to a different area and that person advised it was a technical issue affecting thousands of customers.  I was told my case would receive priority and a refund would be made. 

Why is this taking so long?

Edit - I also meant to add to my question. Is there anything else I can do. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did it get resolved (or if not resolved any ideas of what action I can take??

You would need to ask eBay why it is taking so long

You were given the standard scripted response everyone is given who contacts eBay about anything, it doesn't mean it really has been

Have you spoken to a supervisor at any point?

I would be surprised if it was 'affecting thousands of customers' (in Australia at least) or the member forum here would be awash with people posting about it

I did speak to a supervisor and he was the one who said it was an issue affecting thousands. I can only think his as English speaking skills were very hard to understand that the number was wrong. I do also remember him saying this issue has affected many others. I honestly believe that I was "fobbed" off both times and they said things to make seem like they would take action but I finished up the call not feeling confident it would be resolved.

I just rang ebay and the person I spoke to basically repeated the same story. It is a issue affecting many customers. I then asked how may customers are affected. Is it a handful, or is it hundreds or thousands? Replied thousands. I challenged this saying it is hard to believe this otherwise the discussion boards forum would have this issue all over the place. I felt like I was being read a script because the wording was alomost identical to the last phone call I had

I aksed for an email from ebay acknowledging the issue and that I would receive the $49.

Yes, as I said, staff read from pre-written scripts, no matter what the issue, they stick to the script. That is why I suggested speaking to a supervisor instead of 'base level' cs. They will all use the sme script, and yes, fob people off to 'get rid of them' It is not 'thousands' , the forum would be nothing but post after post about it otherwise
