attempting to update my account ebay wont allow me to change email address states already in use

seems like that may be the case but the email address is fairly new I cant remember ever making a new acount

If you prefer to use it with this account, maybe you could try to log in with that email address (as you don't remember creating another account, so you don't remember your username), then click on resetting the password, and they should send a link to reset it to that email address you would like to use. Once you are in, you can change the email address there, so you can then use it for your main account. It sounds a bit complicated, but it isn't, if you really want to use that email address for your main account.
