I have contacted Ebay 3 times now ( starting Oct 25th )regarding ID verification, I’m probably one of the few people who does not have photo ID. In my conversations with them they have accepted 2 other forms (verified in chat conversation transcript) , each time I contact them bar the last time they have said my account WILL be verified in 3-5 days, last conversation was 1-3 days. I have funds on hold & it isn’t really a small amount. The item sold was picked up weeks ago. Surely this is theft, I don’t have the item & Ebay has the money for it, to add insult to injury I’m only days away from “ further account restrictions “ …what am I supposed to do now ? I’ve done the right thing even according to them via transcripts.
While a CS rep in live chat, may accept any form of ID you wish to supply and may even submit that ID on your behalf, the verification of your ID is beyond the authority of a CS rep.
Theft? - No. It is in fact illegal for ebay to pay you if your ID has not been verified
It is very unlikely the cs person did. They may have put you on hold or whatever, but as for actually do anything other than that, you would have to be one of the very lucky very few
Keep in mind these are staff overseas, reading from a script on the screen that comes closest to the question asked
Their interest is in getting the person 'off the line' as fast as possible
The staff have no experience in using eBay as buyers or sellers, where as members responding here do
(Even if they do not use their selling ID as their posting ID)
Have they ever put you through to a supervisor in live chat?
If they haven't, I think you should ask to be put through to a supervisor because normal CS representatives don't have the power to change anything.
