Problem with buyer saying item not received

I  new to eBay and am learning as I go, no problems until now (a few hiccups w/notifications) anyways here's the situation: I sent item to buyer and 2wks later received a msg saying not received yet. after a week of back and forth and me making two trips to the post office to enquire and being told there's delays due to covid they have now launched a buyer request thing anyways in one of the msgs she mentioned the local post office she uses and the name of the postman. Ive just talked to this person and after describing my envelope ( ordinary envelope no tracking or signature required which is my mistake) he recalled very specifically giving this package to the recipient plus a description of its contents (packing material) so I know it's been delivered. I'm wondering what should I do next do I tell the buyer that there mailman remembers giving it to them or do I contact eBay and give them this information?

Problem with buyer saying item not received

I think it is the $10 item he sold. He got fb for the $99 one (luckily that buyer was not a scammer).

I suspected as much.

Not an amount I would spend this much time  & energy on.

update: dealing with a scammer.

Buyer now says that the package she received was opened at one end and contained no silver. And she has a witness who will swear in a stat Dec that there was no silver in there. Her mailman described the letter as heavy(silver) and bulky(Aus post brochure) at no point was 'tampered with' or  'open at one end' mentioned by the mailman so I know she got it. Anyways spoke to eBay and they said with my photo proof of the package and  that by admitting she received my envelope it should be settled in my favor. Fingers crossed.

I doubt it. The item is covered by eBay’s MBG. The case will be closed in favour of the buyer because you can’t provide tracking!

All you have is a ‘he said-she said.’

You don’t have any actual hands on proof of delivery.

So it happened like this:

The buyer has asked eBay to step in,  then the next msg was:

We reviewed this case and decided to issue the buyer a full refund. We didn't receive valid proof of delivery from you. Sellers must provide tracking info showing the item was delivered. Some orders also require signature confirmation.

Then I asked for the complaint to be elevated to the appeal ppl and this happened:

Good news! Your appeal is granted

Greetings and Good news for the day! Your appeal has been granted.

Thank you for contacting eBay Customer Support and you have the right person to assist you regarding the Item Not Received case

First of all, I'd like you to know that we admire your patience and professionalism in handling this issue. The phenomenal efforts you have taken for this transaction is really appreciated.

I have reviewed the details of the transaction and I am glad to know that your buyer has received the item. Thank you so much for being so helpful to your buyer in resolving the issue.

So I won the case eventually.

I think I got lucky this time as

they didn't even ask for photographic or video evidence of me sending it which I always do as proof of sending. I also doubt that they bothered to call the mailman I talked to to hear there evidence. As for the exact reason they reversed there decision

Im not sure but ultimately I didn't get screwed and the scammer got nothing out of me. Also as far as me taking video of myself posting the metal (what I thought would save me in a situation like this) in the end probably won't help if it didn't here. I'll still do it but it's not the valuable ass coverage I thought it was.

Anyway lessons learned.

I have to agree. It certainly doesn’t sound like a response that eBay give from appeals.

That’s great news.

in regards to the green envelope:

the smallest one is only for “documents” under 5mm. If you put thin hardgoods in them, some auspost workers will not accept them over the counter. But you can still put them in the letterbox wink wink.

the medium size is for items under 20mm and is 240mm x 162mm made of paper. I usually put my items in a cardboard Mailer before stuffing them into the envelope. You can put Just about anything in them as long as they’re under 20mm, fit in the envelope and weighs less than 500grams.
People will tell you you can’t send hard goods in them, but I sent an Xbox game in one once and it went missing. Auspost admitted they lost it and asked me what the item was and how much the buyer paid for it and refunded me for the game and the envelope. So you can definitely put hardgoods in them.
the a4 is good for protection as it’s made of cardboard. Same deal, if it’s Under 20mm, weighs less than 500grams and fits in the envelope, you can ship it. I do this for clothes. I put them in a zip lock bag, squeeze out the air and ship it in a tracked cardboard mailer. Saves like $3 on postage for thin items.
Auspost offers a bulk discount of 5% when you buy 10

The problem with that is if the seller asks eBay to step in they nearly always side with the buyer.

Besides that is it well past the time limit for an eBay MBG dispute anyway.

It's painful to read some posts, however. Especially ones that can't tell an apostrophe from a comma.
