Would someone in Australia mind confirming if a seller is actually still alive for me please?

I am very interested in hitting buy now on item 186072703900 but the seller either absolutely refuses to respond to me or they are no longer active.

I am not sure if they are ignoring me due to my no history account or if they are actually not active. I don't want to hit buy now and have to deal with trying to get my money back if they are literally deceased or something.

If someone would kindly message them to see if they are actually active I would very much appreciate it!

It has been incredibly difficult to buy anything as people ignore me completely. I understand the concern over scammers but it makes it very difficult for genuine buyers

I just figured out how to see this feedback... I mean it could be the case but I have no way of knowing. This is one of the reasons I never bought stuff on here, if I want something I generally want to hit buy and know it is basically waiting for delivery. I tried to buy a VR headset but it would not let me (forget why) so I just went new and never really touched Ebay again as I didn't want this hassle.

I guess scammers have made the new buyer experience REALLY difficult for people like me who have money but no purchase history.

I might be wrong, but maybe you've messaged them numerous times and that has raised red flags for them,

Possibly they are on holidays and are unable to see messages as GP said.

I have messaged a couple of times just to say I understand they may have concerns but I can buy now if they can confirm postage cost. I would just hit buy now and let the payment clear and do the talking for me but I cant even do that as they have not specified postage costs so Ebay wont allow me to proceed.

I do understand caution with zero trade accounts but it is shame there is no middle ground and not even the courtesy of a response of any kind. I have never had such a difficult time trying to give someone money and I would have given up long ago but obviously this is a much better deal than just going direct to a store.

But at this point...

your problem may be that it is a high priced item.

Many sellers in Australia have had problems selling expensive items, especially since the start of COVID-19.

Slow shipping can result in eBay issuing a refund, even on items with tracking.

Which state are you in?

This is what I don't get, this isn't exactly a great economic situation but I am cashed up (I work at night - as I am now so rarely get out to spend money so just save) and trying to give someone the asking price for their item so I can get it ASAP but it is proving to actually be impossible to spend money!

I do understand the suspicion of a zero trade account but the reluctance to add a buy now (let alone even respond to a message) with shipping means I cant make a buy since Ebay will not permit it. I don't understand why someone would not just wait to ensure payment is fully cleared? I cant see the risk there tbh. This isn't the only one I have enquired on either but every one has ignored me, I just like this one the most as it appears as new.

I am in Sydney, so not exactly a middle of nowhere destination for shipping

It's such a miserable buying experience for a new shopper

If you want to occasionally buy on ebay, maybe start with a couple of small purchases, things that are eg $20 or so, just to build up a slight good buying record.

I had a look at that ad and it says he could deliver to many areas in Vic. Note: it didn't say all of Vic, just 'many locations'.

This is one very cautious seller. Keep in mind he doesn't appear to have sold anything for over a year either & this is currently his only item on sale and its a big sale.

Plus he has 42 watchers for this item.

Why he didn't just list as pick up only, I do not know, but I get the feeling he may even be willing to deliver it himself (for a freight price), depending on where the buyer is located.

I am guessing he is ignoring you as he is worried about being scammed. You need to realise that if he sold to you and sent it to Sydney, all you have to do is open an ebay claim that it was not as described or faulty in some way and whoosh, ebay would demand he issue a postage label to you, you would be refunded and he would be out of pocket all the ebay fees. Plus as you are new, for all he knows you may not even send back the original item.

All that could happen with any buyer, I suppose, which is why I get the sense he may be arranging delivery himself.

It is poor form for him not to at least answer you (yes, he is still alive, I would be willing to lay bets) & it does sound as if you are a genuine buyer but you are in Sydney anyway so it may be easier for you to just move on to another seller.

They won't all be like this.

Thank you and yes I have actually considered a lot of this but I think I will just give up on Ebay at this point as the only attempts I have had at buying items have all been nothing but frustration. I find Amazon easier for smaller items anyway and they usually turn up the next day which is very convenient and far better than I can get on here. I also don't care to sell items on here due to fees and I don't want to mess with postage personally.

It still blows my mind that I cant get people to take my money, it is like some kind of sick joke where I have money but people selling products simply wont do so.
