Is it normal for a damaged package to be returned back to a seller, by Australia Post? Or would it just arrive damaged to its destination?

I recently won an item on ebay, (paid for item on 9th), after a delay in seller posting the item of four days, (posted on the 13th) now i get a email saying the parcel was returned to the seller damaged?. I have been offered a refund, though nothing has been refunded yet. I feel maybe the seller was unhappy with the sold price, as i was the only bidder. Maybe they refunding so they can re-sell later? Obviously i have to accept refund/reason for not recieving my won items, just seems odd is all and i was hoping to get the items i won and paid for. If it is normal then fair enough, but if it is a lie then thats not fair.

I have not heard about parcel being returned, but if the parcel got for instance damaged in the sorting machinery, and your address became illegible, AP would return it.

I would tell the seller that I might still want the item, so could they please send me a photo of the damage.

If they do not send pics and the refund is not issued within the next day or so; I would open PP dispute - hope that is the way you paid.
