Are there any restrictions mailing from Germany to Australia

I purchased a small item some months ago from a seller in Germany and he claims he is not allowed to post anything to Australia. Is this legit?

That is correct, many postal services have been suspended in Germany to International destinations.

I purchased something 2 months ago and seller sent me the blurb direct from their postal service saying such.
