If you pay it seperately by DD then you won't get it refunded should you need to make a claim.
I would say to the seller you prefer to pay it all by PayPal so you are covered and ask the seller to send an invoice for item plus postage so you can pay using PayPal.
It looks like the seller may be trying to avoid paying fees on the postage amount.
At the end it's up to you.
