Why to Cal. sales have to go 2,000 miles to KY instead of directly to LAX?

Australian buyers are mightily inconvenienced when something for sale in California, Oregon or even neighbouring US states must travel domestically 2,000 miles the wrong direction to Kentucky in order to make a U-turn and then inch their way back to LAX or SFO for departure to Australia.  An item I bought on eBay in Southern California took more than 3 weeks to return to LAX for its flight. The Item weighed a few ounces so I doubt that any freight consolidation saved even $1 in overall shipping costs but it meant a month or more to wait for an item that pre-COVID could have taken 10 days max. Not happy, Jan.

So don't buy from sellers using the Global Shipping Program

Or

ask if they will send another way before bidding

Or take notice of the estimated delivery date and don't buy if you don't like
