a seller wishes to charge excessive postage for multiple items. can he do this ?

seller advertised an item as available at $X price + $Y postage with no quantity listed. i enquired by ebay message to seller if 6 units were available and the total postage to my  location. his reply SEEMED to confirm that the original figure of $Y postage would be sufficient for 6 units and amendment would be made to after purchase invoice. i tracked back to item listing and multiple purchases up to 10 units were now available, from which i duly made a 'buy it now' purchase of 6 units.
first invoice arrived with 6 x $Y postage added. 2nd invoice arrived with a tiny amendment to the equivalent of 5.5 x $Y postage. as a consequence i have offered to collect in person and pay no postage at all.

i think the seller is rather clumsily trying to factor part of the unit purchase price into the postage which i believe is against ebay rules.
for clarification,  1 x $Y is exactly enough to post a 3kg self sealing satchel of more than enough capacity and weight to deliver entire consignment.

how can i annul the sale if the seller does not offer a reasonable postage figure and/or refuses to allow collection ?

i have 13 years experience as an ebayer and a 100% positive feedback over 800 previous purchases. i don't like being stooged.

any advice ?
