how to request a total before paying,the checkout process takes me straight to paypal and I've no options before confirm for making request

I can't see a link for request a total anywhere along the process, the two items are both 'buy it now' from the same seller. The seller and I have spoken via messages and agreed on shipping however I can't work out how to request the invoice during the checkout process.
