Why was PayPal no longer a payment option at checkout? Only credit card or Google Pay?

Same problem for me. Googled problem and found no reason. I won't use ebay if no paypal.

I paid for something this morning soon after 5am and it was OK. EVERY TIME I pay it first says something went wrong, but then it goes through smoothly the second time. Why not the first time, I don't know.

It is still available on other sites, so it is a problem with eBay...
