I sold a camera and when I was asked to set up my acc, i was directed to a site to select my bank then asked to log on. By the way, i did not. Just seemed a bit strange.
You were right to refuse to give your banking logon details to a 3rd party site.
But you do want your money credited to your bank account.
WORKAROUND: Just click in the text box above the suggested banks.
It will ask if your bank isn't one listed, and allow you to enter just your BSB and account number.
Then it says it will credit and debit you a cent.
If they can debit my account just by knowing the account number I'm still worried.
See what happens...
If eBay really insists on this stupidity, bye bye from me.
And with no feedback left by the buyer (hopefully not a scammer ) or the seller yet, on the remote chance that the item was paid for as cash on pick up, you'll still need an account on file to pay your selling fees.
You said you were asked to log into your bank account to set up your ebay account (which obviously you already have an eBay account)
Is that correct?
OR
Are you saying you did not sign up to Managed Payments and be verified to sell before selling? and you have been asked to sign up to Managed Payments now? (so that you can be paid)
Plus you need to be aware that a brand new seller selling a camera worth several hundred dollars is going to be a magnet for scammers
And if you are registered to sell and signed up for managed payments
Make sure any payment for the camera is showing in your seller hub.
