why doesn't eBay accept cash on delivery for a large or a bank check for items too large to post?

Given the payment options set out by eBay why can't cash on delivery be accepted for large items that are impossible to post...eBay maintains that only electronic payments are the only acceptable options...please correct me if I'm wrong.

It would be up to your buyer/bidder if they willing to pay you cash

Are you actually personally delivering this, or is the buyer picking it up from you?
