Have just listed an Video tape for $4.95 thinking I could afford the final value fee only to find I am being charged a $1.50 insertion FEE on top of this?
I was led to beleive thec firstv 40 insertions were Free - [is there such a thing on ebay?]

Yes you do get 40 free listings.
Once you send the listing to ebay it will show $1.50 $0.00
If this is not happening then call ebay by clicking on customer support in the top RH corner.
If you have gone over your 40 free listings then there is a listing fee.
