Can a purchaser get a refund when they could not arrange pick up of an item knowing it was pick up only?

A large coffee table was purchased from me and she said she would arrange a courier as she lived interstate. However,no one will courier it for her because the item was not flat pack (she knew this) so wanted  a refund. I refunded her but would like to know where I stand should this occur again.

First ask the buyer to agree to a mutual cancellation so you get your fees back,

Pity she didn`t search a little further, there a plenty of cheap couriers, some even giving discounts for ebay items,  and i know they would not insist on only flat pack items, so that may have been an excuse to get out of the purchase.

There is little you can do to avoid it happening again,  you have been unlucky this time,  but most bidders will address the pick up and delivery issues before buying.   Make sure your location is clear in big letters so they know exactly where the item is.
