You should stipulate a time frame for pick up items within the listing, but most will allow 7 days, some up to 10 days, seeing that a lot of pick ups can occur on weekends when buyers are free, so giving them time to arrange transport is usually appreciated.
To add, do not push for payment prior, it is best to request and accept cash payment on pick up items.
