how do i give a buyer a partial refund

Hi  How can I give a buyer a partial refund? I could do this once but now in the pull down list the refund item is not available.

Has the buyer opened a dispute? If they have I'm not sure you can give a partial refund. If there is no dispute, go into PayPal and find the transaction from that buyer. Click on refund. The amount box will show the full amount, so remove that and put in the amount you want to refund. You can put a note in as well. The few that I've done I just wrote "partial refund for eBay item <item name>, item number 123456789" and submit it.
