re EBAY refund on overpaid postage

Hi Vegan

A good point, not sure if I did with these listings, but I often say something like "With multiple purchases please wait for invoice so that I can get correct postage"  or words similar.  I may not have done that in this case, but in any event buyers don't always either read or abide by such instructions.   Fortunately I don't get many combined sales, but  I am positive something similar is happening multiple times per hour (or even seconds), and certainly something Ebay should build into their system so that a refund will be picked up in the Ebay system and the relevant refund or pro rata refund given.

When I think about it, what about the case where you sell an item, item is paid for via Paypal, you get charged all the EBay fees including the postage component.  Then the buyer finds a fault and wants a refund.  99% of the time I just give a refund, no questions asked, and I don't ask for item to be returned.  Again Paypal do the right thing.  But what about EBAY?  They presumably haven't received any notification of any refund, so the sale stands, the charges remain, and sales for the year do not include any refunds/returns, but seller needs to keep track of such transactions for tax purposes?

But more to the point, am I correct in assuming Ebay keep all the charges on refunded items since there doesn't seem to be an overlap between Paypal and Ebay, as they are separate entities?
