Many sellers trending the use of a question mark in title, guessing only at what they are selling. Infuriating as they do not research their item. Many sellers now trend the word scandinavian in a glass item because they CLEARLY do not know where it was made : usually China knockoffs of original vintage designs. Sellers like this have become too lazy to research their item and ebay continue to ignore. Returns should be happening due to not as described. But buyers don't seem to know the difference ! Sellers selling ACTUAL Scandinavian glass have researched their item and value, but everyone wants to sell something so they call it anything they like ! Nothing Scandivanian nor even Scandinavian style about many of these flooding into pottery and glass section. It's a real shame and there's so much fake stuff being sold .
@niceandbright,
I know - and unfortunately it's a problem not only on eBay, but everywhere.
In fact, it's been a problem as far back as there have been collectors. Much of the soi-dissant Qing dynasty (just as an example) bowls that were bought by English aristocrats in the Georgian era are now known to be fakes. They have their own interest for collectors, of course, as at least they date back to the Georgian period - but they're not what they were supposed to be when they were bought at the time.
If you're a collector, you can only grit your teeth, be wary when buying sight unseen (on eBay or anywhere else), be wary even when buying in person (be on the alert for stylistic anachronisms, poor technique, quality, anything that sticks out as a problem), and keep in mind the maxim that if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
If you're a seller, take pride in the meticulous detail and provenance that you provide. You can make this part of the point of difference in your items.
In either case... don't sweat the small stuff.
I feel your pain. Searching for 'stained glass' brings up items made of acrylic or stickers!. Luckily some buyers eventually find those who make things with "real" glass. One can only hope buyers seeking a genuine item learn to question everything - and report fakes and shonky sellers to ebay.
