$150 fee to sell a laptop :|

So I'm attempting to sell a laptop for $1450 and my expected loss towards eBay is:

eBay - $143

Paypal - $38

Total LOSS to sell my item - $181

Really isn't $60 fair or even $80 fair? To use a hosted service which probably absorbs a $0.02 loss to host my item for 10 days?

I mean they pay their support staff peanuts, its not like their wages are high enough to justify the excess fees.

I think its a joke I hope I never need money bad enough to use eBay ever again, this is pathetic.

If you know someone with a store the FVF will be 6, 5 or 4% (depending on their store level), which works out to be $87 max, $58 minimum.

It'd even work out cheaper if you opened a basic store yourself just to sell the laptop - $20 to list it for 30 days, plus the $87 FVF if it sells is only $107.

And it will cost you nothing at all if you stand on a street corner and try to sell your laptop OP.

Thanks for the info SP, never selling anything of that value I didn't take much notice of the caps when the new fee structure was announced.

The total fee for ebay and Paypal was still only about 12.35% which is a bargain in my book for the amount of exposure.

I used to do quite well on QS a few years ago as I offered Paypal there too, wouldn't dream of trying to sell anywhere on line without giving buyers the option to have buyer protection, worth every cent of the 2.4% fee.

It isn't a loss, it is the fees for using the ebay and Paypal and only payable if you sell your item and the second fee only if the buyer pays through Paypal.

Ialso wonder what lap top u are selling for that price but fees are a fact of life. If ebay didn't have fees the service would stop and we wouldn't have it. I'm not sayingebay is perfect but one will never be happy to pay fees.
