So I'm attempting to sell a laptop for $1450 and my expected loss towards eBay is:
eBay - $143
Paypal - $38
Total LOSS to sell my item - $181
Really isn't $60 fair or even $80 fair? To use a hosted service which probably absorbs a $0.02 loss to host my item for 10 days?
I mean they pay their support staff peanuts, its not like their wages are high enough to justify the excess fees.
I think its a joke I hope I never need money bad enough to use eBay ever again, this is pathetic.

Yep, biggest scammers going around. Cost me 60 bucks to sell a surfboard of 600, then pay pal sting you 2.5% to receive money from a sale on ebay which i understand ebay own paypal too.
Its highway robbery. How can you charge 10% of a sale especially to people that do not sell a lot, we are not all businesses on here.
Its just a joke, i was shocked and offended when is saw the final value fee.

Given this thread is well over a year old, things have probably changed again. No-one is forcing anyone to sell anything on here. You only pay if you sell. Put an ad in the paper and you pay whether you sell or not and it's probably going to cost you way more than $60.
Yes, the fees suck, but that's the price you pay if you choose to use the service.

at the risk of being criticised for keeping a 16 month old going . . . . . . your shock should have been present before listing as fees are able to be viewed regardless of whether you sell with the quick listing or Advanced listing option as shown below
OR
If you had looked at the fee schedule before committing to the listing you could have decided not to list if the fees are too high. If you didn't bother checking the final value fees before listing then that is hardly eBay's fault. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but final value fees are not some closely guarded secret that are only revealed once you sell. It is a seller's responsibility to know the fees involved before deciding to sell on eBay.

Quick Sales. People have moved over there to try and get away from eBay, but move back because they don't get the traffic that you get on eBay.
