20% off Target voucher from ebay. Not taken off paypal payment.

Hi,

I clicked on a 20% off target offer, on my ebay page,  bought a couple of things and the invoice I printed out has a balance of $33.

I paid by paypal but they have taken the amount of $39 which is the full amount.

I phoned Target and they said it is an ebay voucher and has nothing to do with them but to check my bank account!

I've checked, nothing refunded as yet.

I've never used a bonus voucher before.  Does ebay pay the amount via paypal or bank account?

That does not make very much sense.  You say the invoice was for $33 but paypal has taken the full amount of $39...so which is it?

You have to deal with this through ebay....it has nothing to do with any Target store.

How did you fund the payment.....paypal balance, bank account or credit/debit card?  Any reund will go back to the funding source.  It will go to you paypal account or card account, but not your bank account.  A card refund takes several days to show up.

But you have not mentioned applying for a refund....who did you apply to?

Paypal/ebay does not give you any money....it is taken off the total amount of the invoice.

When you paid, did you put the voucher code into the box in the invoice and click "Apply"?  This should then have shown the amount of the discount in red with an updated total, which should be the amount taken from your payment source.

Did you pay for your items before midnight on Sunday....that was the cutoff time for the 20% Target vouchers?

Did you read the T&C before buying, there was a precise set of instructions for using the voucher.  I used it last week and it worked fine for me, but as I said, you had to follow the instructions carefully.  It involved things like, the email account and the Paypal account used had to be linked, you had to purchase and pay before the expiry date and time etc.

I clicked on the ebay link and used the code.  I bought four items and when I printed out the invoice it had the price for the items, less "total voucher amount"   and final total $33.00.

I clicked on pay now via paypal, didnt really look at the amount until later and found they had taken $39.00.

Target told me they had a lot of enquiries about not getting the discount, and just told me to  check  my bank account!!

I'll check in a few days to see if its refunded through paypal, if not, I'll give ebay a call.  

It was within the time frame.

But have they taken the whole amount?

Go to your paypal account, find the transaction and look at the details.

The invoice will show the total amount of the transaction and the details will show two funding sources.....your choice of funding source and the amount of the voucher, making the total of the invoice which would have been transferred to Target.

You have paid part of the amount and ebay has paid the voucher amount.

Don't bother to check your bank account....nothing is going to magically appear there.  If there is any refund due to you it will go to your paypal account if you used a bank account as your funding source.   You can then transfer it to your bank account.

My paypal accounts shows a total amount of $39.00 paid to Target.

$33.00 off Paypal Balance

$ 6.00  20% off Selected Retailer, and shows the code number.

So you have received your discount, only $33 has been taken from your Paypal Acct, the other $6 has been charged to eBay.

Ok, I admit I may be having a seniors moment,  but it is showing that $39.00 was taken from my account.   Luckily it was just a small amount so I'm not concerned and perhaps my brain will start working again soon...

No, it is not showing that $39 was taken from your account.

It is showing that Target was paid $39 with $33 being taken from your account and ebay putting in the rest in the form of the voucher.

It was not Target that gave you the discount.....they still had to get the full amount for the goods that you bought.
