21 DAY HOLD FINANCIAL SERVICE OMBUDSMAN WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU

Having lodged a complaint against Pay Pal and Ebay in regards to illegally freezing funds and also referring the matter to the privacy commisioner.  The Financial Services Ombudsman also wants to hear about accounts where funds have been placed under the 21 day hold. Their office is anticipating an across board deluge of complaints and they wish to be advised of individual cases as believe this is a breach of law.

That's why I stopped selling. Paypal stuffed up my 100 percent raring by changinging their policy without warning causing me to have to open a new paypal acc after having made sales. My buyers gave me neg feedback because I had to cancel their sales so they could use my new acc. Then got funds held for 21 days. To top it off got an item damaged complaint even though I had packed it really well and they gave money back regardless. That was the last straw for me.

Sounds self-inflicted to me. Unless you are the ONE person who had to open a new Paypal account. For no underlying reason? Unlikely.

I've had That happen to me also it took 21 days to refund my buyer her money which she was new to ebay the poor lady was in a panic I had to a sure her I had refund it and that she should have received it for 3 weeks i had to send her a snapshot to prove it to her which make me look bad and then on top it effects my rating?? Work that one out get penalized everytime you give a refund that's down right rude

I know the 21 day hold is totally wrong but you didn't have to wait that long to refund your buyer, all you had to do was Paypal the money to them as a transfer with the details on it, that transfer would have been totally separate from the money that was being held.

That's presuming you have a CC attached to your Paypal AC, which as a seller you should/would have.

Re. the bumping soaper, that was only a problem when sh.t loads were bumping every day or two........................

Also logged a request with the FOS. Managed to get the funds released slightly earlier.

Worth the effort I thought.

Identical to what happened to us when they held our funds on a new ID.

Never have been held again.
