Hi, If a customer never pays for the items after 30 days & never returns messages, why are you unable to cancel the transaction

Probably because you left it too long. It should become evident pretty quickly if a buyer isn't going to pay. If they haven't paid after a week with no communication, cancel the transaction and give them a strike.

As mentioned, like everything, there are time limits for these things
Be aware you will also be charged fees for the sale, as it was not reported, eBay do not know the buyer did not pay

Tipping is correct, but I wouldnt let it go for a week, my limit is 4 days and 1 second, thats when Ebay lets you cancel it. Don't wait a second longer, especially if they arent responding to messages.

Replying as a buyer. Any buyer who doesn't respond to a seller or pay within 4 days is really not interested.
Or else plain rude.
I think that just as some sellers might string along a buyer at times about having posted a parcel or whatever, some buyers will string along sellers with 'I will be paying soon" etc
But no communication at all= not at all interested and no intention of paying.
Might as well finalise it, get back fees and relist asap.
