Hi, I have a question. I sold an item 4 days ago, it was won on a last minute bid, I have had no contact from buyer, and no payment received. This morning, I sent a friendly reminder, stating it had been 4 days and if there is a problem with paying to let me know and we can work something out. I got an almost instant reply, stating "Sorry have had a death in the immediate family so this is the last thing on my mind atm".
If it is the last thing on their mind, why are they on eBay, replying to my email within 10 minutes of me sending mine. If they have to time to respond to eBay emails, why not just pay while on there. Not sure if this is an excuse or for real, I did reply with "So sorry for your loss". Should I be sceptical, which I am not usually, but seems strange, or should I give them time, and how much time?. Need some advise how to handle this.

Update: No payment as promised, buyer promised to pay by Thursday (yesterday) at latest. NPD opened. I had a quick look at previous feedback for buyer, appears she won an item late the night before my item ended (early the next morning) and it was paid for and received already. I had a look at her feedback left for others, she has been leaving feedback everyday since my item ended, so how come she has time to leave multiple (51 feedbacks) feedback comments, but can't find time to pay for my item. Should I send this time wasting buyer an email, I am so peeved that I gave her benefit of the doubt, and she treated me like an idiot.

Do not contact her just close the disputes when you can and smile with the strikes she will get.

I ended up sending this email, no cursing, just simple and to the point, will wait to see excuses flow.
"Non payment case has been opened, I have reported you to eBay.
Seems last thing on your mind ATM is paying for the top you bid on and won, but you have time enough to leave 51 feedback comments for other sellers since my auction ended".
My first email was sent on 20/6/13, to ask when she would pay for item, which was 4 days after auction ended (morning of 16/6/13), her reply email was "eBay is the last thing on my mind ATM". Now 12 days after my auction ended, she has bought items, and has left 51 feedback comments. I hate being treated like a fool.

I should have let it go, but she has out and out lied to me and I am not happy, so sick of non-payers, have had a few recently, but this one was just plain rude.
She could have asked to cancel sale, I did give her the option in my first email, oh well, what's done is done.

I just received this email from buyer:
"My neighbour has been collecting my mail and leaving the feedback
Thanks for THAT - NOT THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO JUSTIFY MYSELF TO YOU
You'll have your money after I bury my husband this afternoon at 4pm
Am appalled !!!"
I just want to cancel the sale, if she knew she was burying husband at 4pm today (Friday), then why did she state she would pay by Thursday at latest. Why couldn't her neighbour pay for the item in this case, this all sounds very dodgy to me.

"eBay is the last thing on my mind ATM".
so if that was the case WHY was she on there to reply to you?
What can one say other than block her.

If her neighbor was doing stuff for her then why did they not contact you and tell her what was going on when they could see messages to each other and payment needed.
Sorry more bull IMO

She just paid, I will send top today, so she can't complain about postage time, but I have a feeling I am going to cop a negative from this one, going to block her.

I think you'll get a negative too. Just follow up to it with a factual reply and don't let it get to you.
Unfortunately, I always have trouble with buyers when I have to open a dispute. Sadly, you get used to it.
You did the right thing dmh. You were more than patient.

Thank you, after all it is only a red dot on a website, can't hurt me, and I think I have been patient. I gave her 12 days, should have just opened case and let it got he 4 days and cancelled the sale. Just seems like a long time to wait to bury a person, if they passed 10 days ago and only burying them now, but who am I to say it is not true, and she responded again so quickly, so she obviously keeps a close eye on her messages:-(
