50,000+ shops closed down on another site

I sell on another site (the "handmade" one) and anyone who had stand alone Paypal and would not or could not sign up for global payments to their shop (ie: credit cards), have been suspended as of today.

In the last few hours I have watched the shop numbers fall from just over 1,020,000 shops down to 967,515 and dropping.....

Most people were moaning about their loss of stand alone Paypal as they would now have to give their bank details to get paid.

I remember a few years ago when Ebay made us ACCEPT Paypal and how everybody was moaning!

It's quite a while since I listed anything on there but when I first set up my shop I noticed it cost more to use their system instead of having buyers pay me direct through paypal, so I didn't opt in to it. I didn't sell overseas (though lots of people from the US demanded that I sell to them) so I didn't need it.

I suspect part of the reason etsy has made DC mandatory is so that sellers can no longer get the buyer's email and do extra deals privately. I'm only assuming that sellers no longer have any record of the transactions in their paypal account but it seemed fairly logical.  How long before ebay implements a similar scheme and charges us for the privilege?

eBay are actually contractually prevented from introducing a payment processing system, as one of the clauses when they split from PayPal (they also have a vested interest in keeping PP payments above 80%, as they get a bonus if they do but pay a fine if they don't).

On the other site, buyer's email addresses are provided to sellers so l honestly believe it's 100% revenue raising.

For, I'm confused I had a Friend tell me that her husband sells on a site that was shut down 2 days ago which would had been July 2,2017. What year were these comments posted for I started a store on Etsy. Went to list my very 1st item a week and half ago, did all tags like I was suppose to but after setting up shipping and excepting overseas when I went to download for it to go live-It kept coming back problem with shipping. So I've reached out to another friend who's wife sells on Etsy to get help setting up my shop. For, I don't have a problem excepting DD or PP, of even the last 4 #'s of my personal info for if it must be done in order to Sell. Then why would I cut my Nose off to Spite my Face. No one can get your whole # just by the last 4#'s.I guess my main ? Is. Was it Etsy that was shut down for a bit over everything I'm reading and why wouldn't ppl sell overseas, for that would be biasis to overseas Customers. Kel any help would be greatly appreciated. For, my 1st friend told me she could not give out the Platforms Nane-Which I found kinda off- why does it have to even be a secret! Thank you to anyone who knows anything about this? Sincerely, Kel

The thread was started on 2/6/17....just a month ago.

As for mentioning the name of the platform....these are the ebay boards and ebay does not like us to mention rival selling sites.

You would be better off posting any Etsy related questions on their forum (they have  not shut down, they closed shops that weren't signed up for their own payment processing system), and post any eBay related questions on the US eBay forum (this is the Australian forum).
