Re: 50% off Insertion & Final Value fees

I'm sick of it too!

i have a bunch of stuff ready to list and kept waiting for a free listing offer. (I'm a small seller of personal items and dont have a shop.) even rang eBay to ask when another free listing offer would be made and complained that I haven't received offers. Was told "completely random " and that " for sure" I'd receive an offer soon . Yep, that was 3 weeks ago and no offer.

When I'm listing low cost items it simply would be crazy to pay $1.50 listing fees per item.

I am not sure i understand what the problem is it says 50% of insertion ans fvf fees if you accept it doesn't come off your free listings they are a different offer. So if it is charging you 75c insertion fee that is 50% of the $1.50 normal fee.Someone correct me if I am wrong but thats how I see it.

You are doubtless correct in your view, but most people who don't have stores also don't list for $1.50, so a 50% reduction in listing fees they would not normally pay on the off chance of making a sale and getting reduced FVF (probably less than 75c amortised) is a no brainer.

It definitely is a problem at my end, as i've just tried it again, and same result - 75c insertion fee.

How have other people gine with this? TIA

Very odd. I just tried it on an account where I hadn't accepted the offer. Went into the Toys category, filled out everything, scrolled to the bottom and it said $0.00 in fees, whereas on the account that I accepted the offer it was $0.75c in fees.

Maybe this offer is directed at people who've already used up their 40 free listings for the month.

Merfar2107, you were 100% correct in your original post.

Yep, I agree that it appears you don't understnad.

The problem, as I and Merfar2107 explained above, is that it's free to list in the Toys (or any of the other categories) if you have free listings and don't take up the offer but if you do take up the offer, a $0.75c fee shows up at the bottom of the screen.

Re: 50% off Insertion & Final Value fees

Exactly. if you are using your 40 free listings, then half of 0 is 0, not 75c.

Of course we are intelligent people and know that half of $1.50 is 75c, but we were using our Free listings, or so we thought. However, knowing full well that everything isn't always what it seems with ebay, I did err on the side of caution and did a test.

My problem has now gone though, as it appears that the great offer (bells and whistles here) was only for one listing anyway, and one of my re-lists took care of that apparently, as I now have 0 left on the offer. I did a double check and didn't get charged a sneaky 75c on the insertion for the re-list, it did remain free.

If you did use the offer, soul, I'd be keen to know if they refund the 75c to you, as per your ebay chat that it would be free.

I don't have anything to list in those categories and don't want to risk the 0.75c fee. For anyone who does, I'm sure if you contacted eBay and explained the promotion, they'd refund the insertion fee.
