My Ebay account, which has been active since about 2004, has been hacked three times in three days. I have rung Ebay in the US four times. They tell me it is secure now, but I am still worried. I changed my email, my password, took all my financial information out. Every time I restore the account, a hacker changes it again. Ebay says it's someone in Germany, I am in Australia. Has this happened to anyone else? I am scared to list anything.
The only thing I have done different was I made one small purchase of a bird toy through my IPhone5. Maybe that was where a hacker got in? I am not particularly computer savvy (middle aged mother).

Did you get any emails that looked like they were from ebay or paypal that asked you to click on the link if you think the email was sent in error?
This is the main way for hackers to get you passwords and account details.
Maybe start a new account and go back to the other in a few months?
A pain I know as it should not be happening but is it worth a try?

No, I've been around long enough to recognise scam emails and just delete them so I'm not that silly. The first day I recieved bona fide emails from Ebay saying my password and email address had been changed was the first I knew of this. It's taken me years to build up the 1119 feedback at 100% and I'm not keen on starting all over again. Of all the people to pick on, they had to choose me, and I don't even sell anything high end!!

Well they must have some sort of log on your account if they are able to get any new passwords.
And as for the scam emails MANY that have been on ebay for years still fall for them and as you had not mentioned you had not clicked on any links it was a process of elimination.
Sorry for suggesting that and I never said you were silly,.

No that's okay. I'm sure I didn't click on anything suspect but I did just get a new Iphone5 and made one Ebay purchase through there recently. That's the only thing I've done different from usual. So I've just deleted every game 'App' I had bought on that phone and left the bare bones things that it came with. What I'm really hoping is that this may have happened to someone else but they've recovered without any problems. That way I would feel a bit less concerned. Never had to deal with account fraud or hacking or highjacking before!!!

I have to agree with sparklz here. The scammer's emails supposedly from ebay and paypal are getting so good now that even ebayers with 10 times as much feedback as you have to look twice. I have seen some emails posted on the board that are almost impossible to distinguish from the real deal.
As for accessing ebay through your phone....you only have to read these boards to know that there are many problems that appear only to phone users. My advice would be to use your phone for phone calls and your computer for ebay....why look for problems if you don't have to.

Have you had a phone call recently, supposedly from Microsoft, telling you they've picked up a problem with your computer and you need to give them remote access to fix it? This scam has been going for years and is still very active and people are still falling for it unfortunately

I am sorry about your situation it is very frustrating. but I noticed that you said you received "bona fide " email from Ebay saying your passwords etc had been changed.!!!!
Why would ebay notify you that you had changed your password, they would assume it was you ?
That is where I think you where hacked, replying to a "bona fide" bogus email from a hacker telling you you had been hacked and asking you to log on and fix the problem.
Also, as there is an Ebay Australia contact number, perhaps the US Ebay number you have been talking to may even be a bogus number from the hacker ( or am I being paranoid) .
Can you Log in via a friends computer and see if you can take back control by changing all your details, make sure you log in through Ebay.au not any other LINKS.
GOOD LUCK

You need to run all your spyware, keylogging and virus protection and change your passwords after the scans.
It sounds like you have a Keylogger or Trojan in your system,
Changing your passwords while they are active will have no affect as each time you log back in they will send the information back to the scammer,(hence the repeated hacks).

Have you changed your email password? It is often the case that they have hacked your email account and keep doing this by telling eBay they have forgotten the password, they then access your email address to re set the password on your eBay account. This is one of the common ways they do it.
Check the deleted folder in your email account also to see if there is anything there.
