Accused of price gouging

Hello folks

Given covid19 circumstances I was selling hand sanitizer at cost price,, as I know people are price gouging upwards of $30 for a small bottle. Unfortunately the postage came in to cost more than the actual item pretty much, and my item was removed.

Is there anyway to get approval around this? I can't even get face masks (irrespective of price) for my work.

Has eBay gone a little overboard?

Any clarification appreciated

government has ordered ebay to crack down on such things (masks/toilet paper) - don't relist becuse you will  most likely get banned from ebay for life.  Peter Dutton said they will be prosecuting people for such things as hoarding or price gouging - i say most likely you have been reported to the authorities - it was all over the news for a few days.

Yeah, only big business are allowed to legally gouge us every day.

Governments MPs are just as bad with all their unlimited gifts under $300 - pure graft.

eBay have probably just introduced a blanket ban, nothing personal.

They have now introduced a specific report function for those that are price gouging those specific items for

General household items,Hygiene items,Medical supplies,Other and Sanitation items.

Sounds like you were one of the first ones caught up in it and normally listings get checked before being

removed but this time around they may just be deleting any that "may" fit the criteria whether that's correct or not.

So maybe someone that was a bit over zealous and blanket reporting or eBay have done a sweep and your

items got caught up in that sweep.

It appears that EBAY has pulled hand sanitiser listings in australia there are a few left but less than 6, but overseas sellers can sell to their hearts content.

My guess is they are being reported and they can't cancel overseas listings.
