Adding new paypal address to sold item

Hi, I haven't sold much for a few years and thought I'd start selling again. Problem is my new paypal address is now different to the one I used to use for that ebay account. I've sold a few things in the last few days and the buyers can't make payment to that paypal address. I've gone backwards and forwards trying to fix the problem but I'm a little rusty and not sure where I've gone wrong . I can't even ask buyers for their email addresses so I can send a paypal invoice.
I've updated the paypal account in payment preferences in my account . Any suggestions would be great, I'm tearing my hair out. Thanks

Re: Adding new paypal address to sold item

Unfortunately, there is no way to alter the email address payment is sent to once an item has been purchased - it's also listing specific, so you'll  find creating a new listing (if you use relist or the sell similar function) will still have the old email address pre-filled.

If you no longer have access to the old address (you can add it as a secondary email to accept the payments if you do), you really only have two options. One is to call PayPal and see if they payments can be redirected, as they can do that in some circumstances. The other is to invoice via PayPal - most buyer's will have their eBay-registered email addresses visible via the sales record in Selling Manager (if you're subscribed), but you may have to word a message so that it can get through eBay's filters (they strip email addresses from a lot of messages or prevent a message from going through if it contains certain words. I had to send a PayPal invoice to one of my buyers and I couldn't use "gmail" in the message, but I could use "email". It makes things very difficult to sort out issues like this, but the other alternative is to request your buyer's contact details and either get the email address or call them).

Thanks for replying 🙂 The old paypal address no longer exists so not sure how that will go. Am I allowed to send my mobile number via email?

Re: Adding new paypal address to sold item

You really need to sort it out with Paypal. Even if it's not a current email address, if it is a valid email address that you can access, then you can add it to Paypal and still receive payment.

If you can't then you need to sort it with your buyers. Noting that buyers generally get wary when sellers can't do things through eBay.

Frankly, it might be best to seek mutual cancellations from the buyers, sort your listings out to reflect today, not years ago, relist, and hope the buyers are still around.
