Advice saught from sellers before I leave negative as a buyer

I am asking here as a buyer, in the seller area.

I seek opinion before I leave feedback in order to be fair to seller.

Short version.

-I won a bid

-Paid there and then with Paypal.

-I wanted a torch and got a vehicle spotlight(Cheap and nasty)

The torch was metal and a very very good price.

-Seller sent the wrong item

-I want the item, however, seller will only refund and not resend

- I now have to return item before i get the refund..i still

        want original item.

Is this a was of fooling buyer if they don't get the full price they wanted?

Should this be a neg, neutral or positive.

I have to say, I am not happy, however, i dont want to over-react.

What are you thoughts?

Thanks

I am glad i asked now.

A neutral seems in order. A NEG is a bit harsh.

I didnt want a knee jerk reaction, which is why i asked first. Thanks everyone

Agree, if they are now paying for return, I would leave a neut.

You have 60 days to leave feedback, so coming back to it after some days tends to give a better perspective.

There should be a "cooling off period" before you can leave a NEG. I see some and think...you just trashed a sellers rep for something stupid

In all fairness, they have sold 4000 items with minimal negs. This may be a one off. However, isnt this the idea of feedback to say how my sale went?

It is probable( moi has done this more than once:-p) that the seller actually has two piste offenhausered buyers and the op's torch is causing consternation elsewhere as that buyer is screaming for a spottie.

This makes it a little hard for the seller to promise to resend the correct item to the OP until the torch arrives back to the seller.

I have sent out preadressed prepaid bags/envelopes before so that the buyers can send directly to the correct address and I refund in full inc original postage or any extra postage incurred by the buyer.

In all of the cases the buyers have been happy with the outcome albeit an unusual process.

I would hold off leaving feedback until the seller provides the refund, remain patient and ask them again about the torch.

I think neg or or even neutral would be a bit harsh, seeing the seller is doing his bit to fix the mistake.

I would be happy to get the refund and move on.

one important bit is being overlooked, that should sway you towards a neg - if they deliberately did this because your bid on the actual torch wasnt high enough for them.

if they didnt deliberately send the wrong item, surely they would offer to send the correct item once you return the wrong one?

ive seen different ways sellers try to get out of supplying an item won for a bid that would be less than what theyre after, and this is definitely one of the methods used (doesnt mean this seller is though).

Given the seller will end up wearing postage both ways, I doubt it's because they're trying to get out of the sale due to not enough $$. It will end up costing them significantly as is.

Hmm would like to hear the other fellows story first .

I dont understand why you would end up with a totally different item to 1 you have bid on , surely to christ the sell isnt that stupid.

1sweetap6v8 do you find it so strange that a seller who carries thousands of different items may occasionally make a mistake and send the wrong product?

Even companies like Office Works and Amazon get it wrong sometimes and post out the wrong thing.

What other side of the story? The seller has freely admitted they made a mistake and has paid for the wrong item to be returned, what would either party gain if the buyer had been sent the right item?

Hmmmmm....maybe it is because sellers are humans and occasionally we or our staff make mistakes.

Should I sack my staff if they accidentally pack the wrong item?

Thank goodness when we occasionally mix up an order my buyers fully understand that mistakes happen.
