Is there any formal avenue to make a complaint to ebay about their service? Most big companies usually seem to have some way of highlighting poor service, but I couldn't see it anywhere on the ebay site.
My own complaint is pretty trivial and not really relevant, but... I put up a listing a couple of months ago and as soon as it was listed I received an error message. The listing is up on my ebay system, but the photos don't show and it doesn't come up on any search using the title words. The system won't let me end the listing, so it's just a 'ghost' listing, doing nothing, but presumably counting to my 500/1000 free listings. I've contacted ebay something like 8 times to try to get them to remove it, and each time they tell me they have 'escalated' my request and it will be done asap. Bothing ever gets done. You'd think this would be pretty easy for them to fix. It's been escalated so many times it must be with the CEO by now!
As I said, the actual problem is no big deal, but I've now wasted so much time on emails to customer service that I'm determined to get it resolved.
The quality of service provided by phone/email contact with ebay customer service is so variable that I would love to be able to highlight to them when it's bad. Does anybody know any effective way to do this?

Could be ghosts. After being hit with 5 types of Mortein, you'd be close to being a ghost now!

before there is a warning for going off topic.

Are you in a death spin already? That was quick!
As for complaining to eBay, in all seriousness, I've had the best success complaining on their Facebook page. I send a polite message, not like some of the vicious attacks that others leave and unless there is a major malfunction happening at the time, they respond pretty quickly. Once they have replied, they usually ask you to PM your username and they go from there. Best part is, most of the staff on Facebook are in Australia and understand English!
Generally speaking, I've had most problems sorted within 24 hours. I think sending a calm polite message helps immensely. The staff on there are just doing their job and aren't responsible for whatever issue is at hand, so no need to be abusive towards them.
I've also had equal success on the AP Facebook page, and Tel$tra when I've had a couple of issues where I didn't feel like sitting on hold for hours. A complaint on the KFC site saw me get a call from the area manager! I think being big companies, they don't want to be shamed publicly where millions of people can see, so they act quickly. I always make a point of going back and thanking them publicly when an issue is resolved, so others can see that a calm approach gets results.

is it possible that you saw those posts/links on another thread?
I think that davidc is one of the most entertaining posters on these forums. Whenever posters come here with problems he posts a link to a book available on eBay with an appropriate title for the thread topic or post that was made. He does this in an entertaining and not vicious or demeaning way. I love reading his posts about books he finds. It is his "thing" and others have not tried to copy that.
I am hopeful that he will honour me with a link to a book appropriate for this post of mine. Thanks davidc, love your work!
edit: MY current "thing" is not being the silliest poster on these forums . . . . someone else has that title all wrapped up . . . . . meaning I may be the second silliest poster . . . . and I can live with that!

Oh for Pete's sake!!
If you check David's posts on his profile, it's obvious that they were
removed by the mod.
And referring to removed posts is a no-no
Can we give it a rest now?
